"WHO KNEW........."
WHO KNEW that almost 20 years ago we would be introduced to miniature
donkeys and fall hopelessly in love! The following years have been
filled with so much enjoyment and many, many happy days with donkeys
and good donkey friends. Unfortunately, time has passed and we can
no longer physically take care of the donkeys in the manner we want
to. We have made the very very difficult decision to sell our miniature
donkeys. This was a decision that took almost 2 years to come to terms
with. People have asked me if I had any advice to give other donkey
breeders after all these years. If I did, it would be to try and make
the donkey world a better place by breeding responsibly, not overbreeding
or breeding too early or more than you can sell. To remember that
these sweet creatures live a long time and that every one you breed
will need a good loving home for years to come. Breed the best to
the best, as a well conformed donkey will have a better chance at
a good long permanent home. We have seen the donkey world go from
most not even being registered, to shows filled with large classes
of wonderful animals who make you proud to own donkeys. Finally, we
are grateful to the friends who purchased our herd - Dayle and Joe
Haworth (and thanks for the wonderful website and pictures over the
years - I am notorious for awful pictures!), Sandy and Bob Dorris,
Kathy Loudamy, Jane DuPlessis, Jane Savage, and Dowell and Martha
Howard, who also purchased HAA Mojave as a herd sire. Knowing that
our last donkeys went to homes like this made this much easier (well,
as easy as it can be, that is!) We are grateful to all of you who
bought donkeys over the years from us, and also to those of you who
became good friends. We will miss having donkeys, but hope to keep
in touch with all the fine people we have met over the years. WHO
KNEW what a wonderful ride the wonderful world of miniature donkeys
would be ......!!!
